Rogue Core Server Browser Guide: How to Find and Host Games

Combat Summary

  • Official: Update 2 ungated the server list — you can join missions at Depths and biomes you have not unlocked yet.
  • Official: Hosting still requires unlocking the Depth yourself. A September 10 hotfix added Threat Levels filtering to the list.
  • Official: If a mission ends abruptly (crash, disconnect, kick), Update 1.2’s disconnect insurance preserves your earned XP.

Finding a squad in Rogue Core got dramatically more flexible in Update 2. Here is how the browser works now.

The Ungated Server List

The headline change: the server list is no longer gated by your personal progression. You can browse and join missions set in Depths and biomes you have not unlocked, which means new players can experience late-game content with veteran hosts — and veterans can always find a full squad. This is join-only freedom, though: the rule is explicit that hosting still requires unlocking the Depth.

Finding the Right Game

  • Filter by Threat Level. The September 10 hotfix added Threat Levels filtering to the server list. Use it — joining a TL5 lobby on an untested build is a fast way to watch the defeat screen.
  • Match your goal to the lobby. Farming Expenite? Look for lower Threat Levels with steady clear speeds. Chasing endgame? TL4–5 lobbies with wave stacking are where the challenge lives.
  • Check the Depth. Since you can now join locked Depths, double-check you are queuing for content your build can actually handle.

Hosting Games

To host, you must have unlocked the Depth yourself — no way around it. Once unlocked, list your mission and let the ungated browser fill your squad, including players who have never seen that biome. Set expectations in the lobby: Threat Level, pace, and whether you are speedrunning or full-clearing.

Safety Net: Disconnect Insurance

Worried about joining a stranger’s game? Update 1.2 added disconnect insurance: if the mission ends abruptly — crash, disconnect, or kick — you keep the XP rewards and bonuses earned up to that point. Your time is never fully wasted.

Patch Notes

  • Update 1.2 (July 9): disconnect XP insurance added.
  • Update 2 (September 2): server list ungated.
  • September 10 hotfix: Threat Levels filtering added to the server list.
