Rogue Core Depth 4: Release Window, Gatekeeper and Biome Guide
Depth 4 is coming to Rogue Core in Update 3 with a fourth Gatekeeper. Here is every confirmed detail about the new Depth, its boss, and biome.
Combat Summary
- Official: Depth 4 is confirmed for Update 3 — the in-game tooltip was changed in Update 2 to say exactly that.
- Official: A fourth Gatekeeper is in development, and every Gatekeeper is getting its own distinct biome.
- Speculation: Entry requirements, the new biome’s identity, and the release date are unconfirmed.
Rogue Core currently runs three Depths deep, each capped by a Gatekeeper fight. Depth 4 will extend the run further than any Reclaimer has gone. Here is what is confirmed.
What Is Confirmed About Depth 4
It arrives with Update 3 (official). The Update 2 patch notes (September 2) changed the Depth 4 tooltip in-game to read “coming in Update 3.” That is the strongest confirmation available: it is not a roadmap wish, it is staged content.
A fourth Gatekeeper guards it (official). A September 11 Steam news post confirmed the 4th Gatekeeper is in development. Every Depth ends in a Gatekeeper encounter, so Depth 4’s finale is this new boss-class enemy.
Each Gatekeeper gets its own biome (official). The same post confirmed ongoing work to give every Gatekeeper a distinct biome. Molaktula currently shares a biome temporarily until its own arrives — a sign of how seriously the team takes biome identity. Expect Depth 4’s biome to be built around its Gatekeeper.
How Depth 4 Fits the Current Game
Update 2 replaced the old Depth difficulty system with Threat Levels 1–5, which scale with Depth: TL1 unlocks at Depth 1, TL2 at Depth 2, and TL4–5 bring wave stacking and escalating Reaperworms. Depth 4 will almost certainly extend this scaling — plan for the hardest Threat Levels content in the game.
Miner’s Chatter
Community speculation centers on two questions: what the Depth 4 biome looks like, and whether the new boss teased on September 29 is connected to the fourth Gatekeeper. Ghost Ship Games presented the teased boss as something new rather than a Gatekeeper, but the relationship is unconfirmed. Both are speculation until the studio says more.
How to Prepare
- Push your Threat Levels progression now — Depth 4 will demand your best builds.
- Bank Expenite for the new weapon and upgrades Update 3 is expected to bring.
- Finish any Depth 3 goals (Deep Dives, high-TL clears) before the new Depth reshuffles the endgame.
Verification status: official patch notes + Steam news. Updated September 30, 2026.
