Molaktula Biome Guide: Hazards, Enemies, Gatekeeper Tips
Molaktula got its own dedicated biome in Rogue Core's Update 2. Learn what changed, how Gatekeeper biomes work now, and how to prepare for the fight.
Combat Summary
- Official: Update 2 gave each of the three Gatekeepers its own dedicated biome on its Depth — including Molaktula.
- Official: In Update 1, Molaktula temporarily shared The Ramok’s new Core biome until its own arrived.
- Honest caveat: Biome-specific hazards and enemy tables are not officially documented. The confirmed tactics below come from the Gatekeeper fight reworks.
Molaktula finally has a home turf of its own. Here is what that means for your run.
What Changed in Update 2
Before Update 2, Molaktula — one of Rogue Core’s three Gatekeepers — was temporarily sharing the new Core biome built for The Ramok. Update 2 completed the split: every Gatekeeper now has a distinct biome on its Depth, purpose-built around its fight. Expect the terrain, sightlines, and set pieces to serve Molaktula’s encounter design rather than being generic caves.
How to Prepare for the Gatekeeper Fight
The Gatekeeper meta has been reworked twice since launch, and both reworks matter here:
- Counterattacks (Update 1.2, official). Every Gatekeeper now has counterattacks that relieve pressure on themselves and can temporarily block some or all player attacks. Do not dump everything the moment the boss staggers — bait the counter, then punish.
- No invulnerability phases (Update 2, official). Damage-triggered invuln is gone. Bosses now use short blocks or blockable attacks instead, which keeps the fight flowing and rewards aggressive, well-timed play.
- Health scaling (Update 1.2, official). Boss health was re-tuned to keep pace with player power on 5- and 6-stage missions. Bring a real DPS plan, not vibes.
- Risk Vector adds (Update 1.2, official). Enemy-adding Risk Vectors now feed spawns into the Gatekeeper fight. Clear adds on a rhythm instead of letting them pile up behind the boss.
Tactical Reads for a New Biome
Since Ghost Ship Games has not published the biome’s hazard list, go in with generalist discipline on your first clear: scout sightlines before the arena locks, identify chokepoints for add waves, and save mobility tools for the counterattack windows. Your second run is where you optimize — the first run is reconnaissance.
