Rogue Core: Identifying Unknown Anomalies & Threats

Combat Summary

Encountering an unknown entity in a Rogue Core expedition demands immediate assessment. First, maintain distance and observe behavior; do not engage blindly. Prioritize scanning for weak points and movement patterns. If engagement is unavoidable, fallback positions are crucial for any Tactics you develop on the fly.

Management’s intel is often incomplete, especially on new deep dives. When an uncharted threat or anomaly appears, your initial reaction dictates survival. This guide focuses on universal Survival Tips for hostile encounters you haven’t been briefed on.

Initial Identification Protocol

Upon spotting an unrecognized creature or anomaly, your first priority is identification. Use your scanner to gather data, even if it only provides basic classification. Note its movement speed, attack range, and any elemental effects. Does it chase relentlessly, or does it patrol an area? Does it have obvious armored sections or exposed weak points? Treat any unidentified entity as highly dangerous until proven otherwise. This critical step forms the basis of any sound Enemy Guide for unknown threats.

Tactical Engagement

If engagement is necessary, proceed with extreme caution. Maintain maximum effective range for your loadout. Focus fire on any identified weak points. Utilize crowd control abilities (stun, slow, fear) to disrupt its actions and buy more observation time. Never overcommit to an attack against an unknown. Keep a retreat path clear and communicate observations to your Team.

When To Disengage

Knowing when to cut losses is vital. If an unknown threat is rapidly depleting your shields, overwhelming your team, or proving impervious to standard attacks, disengage immediately. Prioritize getting to a safer location to resupply or reassess. Sometimes, avoiding a fight altogether is the best tactic, especially if the objective doesn’t require its elimination. Don’t be a hero if it means a lost expedition.
