Rogue Core Guide: Kicked vs Disconnected & Core Mega Beast Hazards
Learn to distinguish Kicks from Disconnects in Rogue Core by checking the specific in-game message. Core Mega Beasts leave dangerous damage pools upon death, a new hazard requiring tactical awareness.
Combat Summary
- If you are kicked from a mission in Rogue Core, the game will display a specific message indicating a host decision. Network disconnects will not.
- New in Rogue Core, Core Mega Beast mutants leave persistent, dangerous damage pools on death. Clear the area immediately after confirming the kill to avoid unnecessary damage.
- Always verify the exit message to understand if your mission ended due to a network drop or a host decision, crucial for managing mission expectations and future engagements with fellow Miners.
Kicked vs Disconnected: The Key Difference
Management doesn’t pull punches, and neither does a frustrated host. When a mission ends abruptly, it’s critical to know why. The game engine differentiates between a server disconnection and being kicked by a host. If a host initiates a kick, you will receive a distinct message confirming you were “Kicked from the game” or similar. A true network Kicked vs Disconnected event, such as a lost connection to the server or a game crash, will typically display a generic “Lost connection” error or simply return you to the main menu without a specific kick notification. This distinction saves you from wondering if your team abandoned you or if the deep caves of Hoxxes just swallowed your connection.
Core Mega Beast: New Enemy Hazards
Forget everything you thought you knew about killing big bugs. Rogue Core introduces new mutations, and the Core Mega Beast is a prime example of a deadly post-mortem threat. These mutated behemoths, upon death, do not simply explode into gore and loot. They leave behind corrosive or damaging pools on the terrain where they fell. These aren’t just visual effects; they deal consistent damage to any Miner standing within them. This changes tactical engagement significantly, requiring more than just sustained fire.
Tactical Engagement: Avoiding Death Pools
When engaging a Core Mega Beast, your primary concern shifts from just killing it to also managing the terrain immediately after its demise.
- Clear the Area: As soon as the Mega Beast falls, reposition. Do not stand near its corpse. These damage pools can quickly drain your shield and health, especially if you’re distracted by other Glyphids or harvesting nearby Morkite.
- Environmental Awareness: Lure these beasts into open areas where their death pools won’t block critical pathways or choke points. Avoid killing them directly on extraction points, resupply zones, or narrow tunnels. Strategic kiting is key.
- Team Communication: Call out the presence of Enemy Hazards like these death pools. A quick “Mega Beast goo!” can save a teammate from unnecessary damage. Your Driller can sometimes flatten terrain to minimize the effect, or your Engineer can bridge over it, but avoiding it completely is always best.
