How to Safely Revive Teammates in Deep Rock Galactic

Master safe teammate revives by clearing threats, using terrain, and prioritizing your own survival. A well-executed revive keeps the team fighting and prevents mission failure on Hoxxes IV.

How to Safely Revive Teammates in Deep Rock Galactic

Combat Summary

  • Clear immediate threats around your downed comrade before attempting a revive.
  • Utilize class tools (shields, platforms, tunnels) and environmental cover during the revive animation.
  • Assess the risk; sometimes waiting for a clearer opening or a better position is the smarter play.

Downed Miners are a common sight on Hoxxes IV, and a panicked revive often leads to a full team wipe. Mastering safe Revive Tactics is paramount for any squad’s longevity. Do not rush in blindly; your own survival is the priority, otherwise you’ll just be another target for the Glyphids.

Prioritize Your Safety

Before you even think about hitting that revive button, ensure your own position is secure. If you go down attempting a heroic revive, you’ve doubled the problem. A successful Survival Guide begins with knowing when to pull back, eliminate threats, and then approach the downed Dwarf. Nobody needs two dead Miners where there was only one.

Threat Assessment and Clearance

The first step to a safe revive is clearing the immediate vicinity of hostiles. Swarmers, Grunts, and any projectile-spitting enemy must be dealt with. A Driller can freeze an area, an Engineer’s turrets can provide covering fire, or a Gunner’s primary weapon can thin the herd quickly. Use your grenades – Pheromones, Lures, or Incendiaries can buy precious seconds by diverting or eliminating threats.

Using Your Kit for Cover

Every class has tools to assist in a safe revive, crucial for solid Teamwork Tips:

  • Gunner: Your Shield Generator is the ultimate revive tool. Drop it directly over the downed Miner to create a safe zone. Aim for maximum coverage against incoming fire.
  • Engineer: Use your Platform Gun to create temporary cover walls, block tunnels, or create a safe, elevated spot away from melee threats. Turrets can provide critical suppressive fire.
  • Driller: Digging a small trench or tunnel can provide immediate cover. The Cryo Cannon can freeze a whole pack of enemies, giving you a clear window to revive.
  • Scout: While lacking direct protection, a Scout’s mobility allows for rapid threat elimination and quick retreats. Use your Grappling Hook to reposition swiftly and clear key targets before committing to the revive.

When to Hold Back

Not every revive is possible, nor is every revive worth the risk. If a Miner is down in an impossible-to-reach spot, surrounded by a Praetorian and a swarm of Acid Spitters, it might be better to fall back, gather Nitra for a resupply, and come back with a better plan. Sometimes, abandoning a doomed teammate (temporarily!) to secure mission objectives is the grim reality of Deep Rock Galactic operations. A partial victory is better than a full wipe. This tactical mindset becomes even more critical in the resource-scarce environments of Rogue Core expeditions.
