Rogue Core Disconnect Insurance: Do You Keep XP If You Disconnect?

Rogue Core's disconnect insurance protects your progress when a mission ends abruptly. Learn what you keep after a crash, disconnect, or kick — and what you don't.

Rogue Core Disconnect Insurance: Do You Keep XP If You Disconnect?

Combat Summary

  • Official: Disconnect insurance arrived in Update 1.2 (July 9). If a mission ends abruptly — a crash, a disconnect, or a kick — you keep the XP rewards and bonuses you earned up to that point.
  • Official: This was Lead Game Designer Mike’s headline quality-of-life feature in the “Beefy bosses and disconnect insurance” update breakdown.
  • Community-tested: Players confirm the insurance triggers on sudden ends, not on clean mission failures. Quitting a run on purpose is not covered — the trigger is an abrupt end, not a bad run.

So yes: if your game crashes or your connection drops mid-mission, your earned XP is safe. You do not lose the level progress you banked before the disconnect.

What Counts as an Abrupt End

Per the official Update 1.2 notes, three cases are named: crash, disconnect, and kick. In all three, the mission ends for you without a proper extraction, and the insurance kicks in. The point is simple — real-life interruptions should not erase an hour of progress.

Speculation: Edge cases like the host quitting mid-run or a server hiccup during the final elevator ride are not spelled out in the notes. Community reports suggest the same protection applies whenever the game registers an abnormal end, but Ghost Ship Games has not published a full trigger list.

What You Keep

  • Official: XP rewards and bonuses earned up to the point of the abrupt end are kept.
  • Community-tested: Class XP progress made during the run carries over — players confirm levels and unlock progress are not rolled back.
  • Speculation: Rewards that would normally be granted at extraction, as opposed to XP, are a gray area. The notes specifically say XP rewards and bonuses, so treat anything beyond XP as unconfirmed.

What Disconnect Insurance Does Not Do

  • It does not save a failed mission. If your squad wipes normally, that is a completed failure, not an abrupt end.
  • It does not restore the mission itself — you still miss the rest of the run and its extraction rewards.
  • It does not cover voluntary quits. Leaving on purpose is not a crash, and the game treats it that way.

Why It Matters

Rogue Core missions can run long, especially on deeper Depths with 5- and 6-stage layouts. Before Update 1.2, a crash in the final stretch could wipe out a huge chunk of earned progress — one of the most demoralizing failure states in any co-op game. The insurance removes that sting and makes queuing with randoms, and their unstable connections, much less risky.

Verification status: official Update 1.2 notes (July 9, 2026) plus community reports. Trigger edge cases are unconfirmed. Updated October 4, 2026.
