Deep Rock Galactic Miner Level Explained
Understand how your Deep Rock Galactic Miner Level (Account Rank) is calculated. Every three promotions or class levels contribute to your overall progress, unlocking new assignments and content.
Combat Summary
- Your Miner Level, also known as your Account Level, reflects your overall progress across all Dwarves, not just a single class’s advancement.
- Every three Class Levels gained across any of your Dwarves contributes one point to your global Miner Level.
- Promotions provide significant boosts to your Dwarf Progression and further advance your overall Account Level.
Understanding Miner Level Explained
Many new Miners get tangled up between individual Dwarf levels and the overall Miner Level displayed next to your character portrait. Here’s the breakdown, clear and direct:
Each of your four classes — Driller, Engineer, Gunner, and Scout — levels up individually from 1 to 25. Once a Dwarf hits level 25, they become eligible for a Promotion at the Memorial Hall. Successfully promoting a Dwarf resets their Class Leveling back to level 1 for that specific class, but they retain all unlocked gear and perks, and gain a new rank icon.
Your Miner Level is an aggregate. For every three total class levels you gain across all your Dwarves (before any promotions), your Account Level goes up by one. For example, if your Driller is level 12, your Engineer is level 9, and your Gunner is level 6, that’s 27 total levels. This would translate to 9 points towards your Miner Level. Critically, each Promotion also awards a substantial amount of experience towards your Account Level, making them crucial for rapid Dwarf Progression.
Progression Tactics
To maximize your Miner Level efficiently, avoid focusing on just one class. Spreading your play time across multiple Dwarves allows you to constantly earn new Class Leveling points that feed into your Account Level. As soon as a Dwarf hits level 25, prioritize their Promotion. Not only does this unlock important content like Deep Dives and Elite Deep Dives, but the experience bonus for promoting is a major accelerator for your overall DRG Mechanics progression.
Common Misconceptions
Many new Miners mistakenly believe their Miner Level only advances with the highest-level Dwarf, or that individual levels above 25 (if a Dwarf isn’t promoted) continue to count. Neither is true. Your Account Level specifically draws from valid Class Leveling progress (up to 25 per Dwarf before promotion) and the bonus from Promotions. Don’t leave a level 25 Dwarf unpromoted for too long; you’re leaving Dwarf Progression on the table.
Miner’s Chatter
This confusion is common, especially for fresh recruits. The community often sees new Miners asking why their ‘miner lever’ isn’t moving despite one Dwarf being high level. The key takeaway from veteran Miners is consistent: diversify your playtime, promote often, and understand that every class contributes to the overall DRG Mechanics of your command rank.
