Deep Rock Galactic Hoverboarder Achievement Guide

Combat Summary

  • To get the Hoverboarder achievement, you must stay mounted on a M.U.L.E. (Molly) or a Resupply Pod for 120 consecutive seconds.
  • The most reliable method involves riding Molly during the entire extraction sequence on longer missions, minimizing risks from enemy interference.
  • A Scout is highly recommended for their superior Mobility Tactics, making it easier to stay on the moving target and avoid falling off.

Completing the Hoverboarder achievement is a matter of knowing when and how to mount up, not just skill. It’s one of the DRG Achievements that can seem tricky but becomes simple with the right approach. Don’t risk a mission trying to pull this off randomly; plan it out.

Best Method: Extraction Ride

The most foolproof way to earn the Hoverboarder achievement is to mount Molly during the final extraction. Once the Drop Pod is called, Molly starts a predictable path to the rendezvous point. Enemies are still a threat, but her movement is generally consistent. Your goal is to get on top of her and stay there until the “Mission Complete” screen.

Mission Selection for Extraction

Opt for longer missions, particularly those in large caves or with complex terrain, as Molly will have a longer journey to the Drop Pod. Point Extraction or On-Site Refining missions often provide extended extraction routes, giving you ample time to secure your ride. Any mission where Molly has a winding path through the caves is ideal.

The Scout is the prime candidate for this task due to their Grappling Hook. This tool allows for quick re-mounting if you accidentally fall off Molly or need to adjust your position. The Hoverclock Overclock on the Grappling Hook can also be useful for mid-air adjustments or recovery. Using your Flare Gun can help you see Molly’s path ahead and anticipate obstacles.

Using Resupply Pods (Alternative)

An alternative method for the Hoverboarder achievement involves riding a freshly dropped Resupply Pod. When a pod lands, it remains stationary for a short period before slowly descending into the ground. If you can mount it immediately, you can often get the 120 seconds as it sinks. This is riskier as the pod can easily clip you off if you’re not perfectly centered, and its path isn’t as long as Molly’s extraction route. This method is generally less reliable than Molly for the full duration but can work in a pinch if your Mobility Tactics are sharp. Ensure no enemies are around to interrupt you.

Common Mistakes & Warnings

  • Falling Off: The number one reason miners fail this. Molly can be bumpy, and environmental hazards like stalagmites or low ceilings can knock you off. Always keep an eye on her path.
  • Enemy Interruptions: Glyphids, especially ranged ones like Acid Spitters or Menaces, can hit you off Molly. Clear the immediate area before mounting, or have a teammate cover you.
  • Team Ignorance: Make sure your team knows your intent. Don’t leave them to fight a swarm alone while you’re trying to get this done. Communication is key for all Deep Rock Galactic Guides and objectives.
  • Ignoring Hazards: Molly can run into environmental hazards or cave geometry that will dismount you or deal damage. Pay attention to her movement and be ready to reposition.

Stick to the extraction ride with a Scout, and this achievement will be yours before Management even notices you slacking.
