Bosco Escort Duty Tips: Protect Doretta Effectively
Learn how to effectively use Bosco to protect Doretta during Escort Duty missions. Prioritize critical threats and keep the Drilldozer alive against Glyphid swarms.
Combat Summary
- Prioritize Excavation: Command Bosco to dig through dirt walls blocking Doretta’s path or clear terrain quickly. This is his top priority in Escort Duty.
- Airborne Threat Elimination: Use Bosco to quickly eliminate Mactera, Spitball Infectors, or other flying threats that pose a direct danger to Doretta or exposed team members.
- Revive and Light: Bosco is your instant revive button and mobile light source. Use him for downed Miners and to illuminate dark tunnels ahead of Doretta, allowing for better threat assessment.
Management expects us to keep the Drilldozer operational, and that means utilizing all available assets. Your personal drone, Bosco, is more than just a glorified pickaxe; he’s a crucial Support tool for keeping Doretta from becoming scrap during Escort Duty missions. Effective command of Bosco can prevent core breaches and secure extraction.
Best Use Case
Bosco excels when you need rapid excavation, targeted high-priority enemy elimination, or a clutch revive. During a full stop for a Heartstone or refuel, Bosco can clear surrounding terrain, grab far-off Nitra, or handle ceiling-mounted threats while the team focuses on the main objective. His ability to shoot while you mine makes him invaluable.
Mission Tactics
Always keep Bosco’s current command in mind. While he’ll auto-target basic Glyphids, direct him towards threats that actively harm Doretta first. Mactera Spawn, Tri-Jaws, and Acid Spitters should be your primary targets for Bosco. When Doretta is digging, command Bosco to clear the path directly in front of her for faster progress. Use ‘X’ (default PC key) to dismiss his current target and redirect him to a new threat or mining task. Remember his light function; direct him to illuminate dark caves or ceiling areas where leeches might hide. This is critical for good Mission Tactics.
Common Mistakes
Miners often forget Bosco is commandable, treating him as a passive follower. Letting him waste valuable uptime shooting small swarms while a Mactera cloud ravages Doretta is a rookie error. Don’t be afraid to pull him off a mining node to revive a fallen comrade or clear an immediate threat. Another common oversight is not using Bosco’s light in dark areas, leading to avoidable ambushes or missed resources.
