Miners, if you’re avoiding the M1000 Classic or Sludge Pump due to charge shot mechanics, you’re missing out on some of the most versatile tools in the arsenal. We’ve compiled effective builds and Overclocks that either bypass charge shots entirely or make them incredibly satisfying and impactful. Adapt your playstyle, and you’ll find these weapons can be absolute game-changers, especially against high-priority targets and dense swarms.
M1000 Classic Builds
The M1000 Classic excels in precise damage, and while its charged shots deliver immense burst, several Scout Build strategies make it shine without relying on them heavily.
Hipster: Hip-Fire Dominance
For those who dislike charging, the Hipster Overclock transforms the M1000 into a high-capacity, rapid-fire rifle. Prioritize extended magazine, extra damage, and armor penetration. This Overclocks build is excellent for general mission clear and consistent DPS, allowing you to quickly dispatch Grunts and other threats without the charging wind-up.
Marked for Death: Team Support & Burst
Marked for Death turns your charged shot into a low-damage dart that applies a 55% damage vulnerability to the target for 8 seconds (4 seconds for Dreadnoughts). This isn’t about the charge shot’s direct damage, but its utility. Mark a high-value target for your team or quick-swap to your secondary to capitalize on the debuff. You still rely on hip-fire for most kills, but the charged shot becomes a critical support tool for focused fire. This Scout Build enhances team synergy immensely.
Sludge Pump Builds
The Sludge Pump provides incredible area denial and damage over time. While charge shots are central to many builds, they often provide unique utility beyond simple damage. These Driller Build options showcase its versatility.
Anti-Grav Goo: Long-Range Control
The Anti-Grav Mixture Overclock (23221) allows the Sludge Pump to fire goo projectiles with surprisingly long range. Single shots can pick off distant bugs, while charged shots create widespread slow fields, softening up incoming waves. Pair this Overclocks build with the Subata’s Automatic Fire OC (21333), often called the “Goobata.” When enemies are covered in goo, the Subata triggers AoE blasts upon kills, turning swarms into explosive chain reactions.
Hydrogen Ion Additive: Potent DoT
For pure damage over time, the Hydrogen Ion Additive Overclock (32112) makes your Sludge Pump goo devastating. Combine this with the Wave Cooker’s Gamma Contamination OC (31111). Blast enemies with charged goo, then tag them with the Wave Cooker to stack acid, slow, and radiation for massive DoT, especially effective against Dreadnoughts and other large targets. This Driller Build locks down entire areas.
Sludge Blast: Shotgun Burst
The Sludge Blast Overclock (11221) transforms the Sludge Pump into a powerful shotgun, delivering massive burst damage at close range with its charged shot. This Overclocks option is especially potent against larger targets like Dreadnoughts. For cleanup, use single shots. Pair it with the EPC’s Heavy Hitter OC (22221) for versatile target prioritization.
Goo Bomber Special: Area Denial
The Goo Bomber Special Overclock turns your charged shot into a straight-flying projectile that drops a massive, long-lasting trail of sludge. Fire it over crowds or along corridors to slow and damage everything within. This is exceptional for area denial and controlling enemy movement. Combine this with the Subata build mentioned for Anti-Grav Goo to make enemies explode when killed while sludged. This Driller Build provides excellent crowd control.
