Break Room

Break Room is a solo pool-table arcade game: you are the night-shift cleaner and the table must be cleared. Drag back to aim the cue and release to shoot - pot all 7 object balls within 12 shots. Chain pots on consecutive shots for streak bonuses, scratch the cue ball and you lose 100 points. Deterministic 2D physics, WebAudio synth sound, mouse + touch. All art, rules and code are original.

About the game

Play Break Room online

Break Room is a single-player pool arcade game with hand-rolled deterministic physics: ball-ball elastic collisions, cushion bounces, rolling friction and six working pockets, all simulated at a fixed 120 Hz timestep.

You play the night-shift cleaner staring at a racked table: 7 object balls, 12 cue shots, one job. Pull back anywhere on the table to charge the cue - the aim guide shows the cue ball's path, the ghost-ball contact point, and the object ball's predicted direction, so every shot is a readable geometry puzzle.

Scoring rewards aggression: each ball is worth 100 times your current streak, and the streak only grows while you keep potting. A scratch costs 100 points and hands the cue ball back to the head spot. Clear the table inside 12 shots and the shift ends early.

Controls

How to control Break Room

  • Aim: press and drag anywhere (mouse or touch), pull back like a slingshot
  • Shoot: release to strike the cue ball - longer pull means more power
  • M: mute audio
  • R: restart the table
Getting started

How to play

  1. 1

You have 12 shots to pot all 7 object balls.

  2. 2

Drag back from anywhere to aim; the dashed line previews the cue ball path and the ghost circle shows first contact.

  3. 3

Pot a ball: 100 points times your streak (consecutive shots with at least one pot).

  4. 4

Scratch (pot the cue ball): -100 points and the cue ball re-spots.

  5. 5

Pot every ball before your shots run out to win. Your best score is saved in your browser.

Strategy

Tips for a better run

01

The ghost circle is the truth: aim it so the short predicted line points at a pocket, not just at the ball.

02

Soft shots keep the cue ball near the action; full-power breaks scatter the rack but risk scratches.

03

Side pockets are wider than they look - balls rolling along the rail get sucked in, for better or worse.

04

Plan two balls ahead: leave the cue ball with a straight look at your next target and the streak keeps paying.

05

On the last balls, take the easy straight shot over the hero cut - a dry shot resets your streak to zero.

Questions

Frequently asked questions

Is Break Room a copy of an existing pool game?

No. Break Room is fully original: the night-shift-cleaner framing, the 7-ball/12-shot ruleset, the streak scoring, the physics engine, the art and the WebAudio sounds were all made for this game. It takes the general game of pool as inspiration but copies no existing game, brand, or character.

How do I aim and shoot?

Press and drag anywhere on the table (mouse or finger), then release. Dragging works like a slingshot: pull away from where you want the cue ball to go, and a longer pull means a harder hit. The dashed guide line previews the shot.

What happens when I scratch?

Potting the cue ball is a scratch: you lose 100 points, your streak resets, and the cue ball re-spots at the head spot. The shot still counts against your 12.

How do I win?

Pot all 7 object balls before your 12 shots run out. If shots hit zero with balls still on the table, the game is lost. Your best score is saved in your browser.

Does the game use real physics?

A faithful arcade approximation: equal-mass elastic ball collisions, cushion restitution, rolling friction, and pocket capture, all stepped at a fixed 120 Hz so every shot is perfectly reproducible.
