About the game

Play Tile Trio online

Tile Trio is a triple-match tile puzzler built around one satisfying loop: tap glowing totem tiles, fill the 7-slot tray, and watch matched triplets burst.

Ninety tiles are stacked two layers deep on a 10x6 board. Every tile on the surface is free from the start, so the opening is always matchable — the buried layer frees up as you clear above it.

The 7-slot tray is the whole game. Three of a kind clears for 30 points, but seven tiles with no match ends the run, so plan which types you commit to.

Combo rewards tidy play: clear while the tray holds 3 or fewer tiles and the multiplier chains up to x5; let the tray get messy and the chain breaks.

Two reshuffles per game are your safety net. Your best score lives in your browser, waiting to be beaten.

Getting started

How to play

  1. 1

Tap glowing totem tiles to move them into the 7-slot tray below the board. Dimmed tiles are buried — clear what's on top first.

  2. 2

Three tiles of the same totem clear the tray for 30 points. Seven tiles in the tray with no match ends the run.

  3. 3

Clear while the tray holds 3 or fewer tiles to chain the combo multiplier up to x5; a messy tray breaks it back to x1.

  4. 4

Press R (twice per game) to reshuffle every tile still on the board when you're stuck.

  5. 5

Clear all 90 tiles to win. Your best score is saved locally.

Strategy

Tips for a better run

01

Commit to types early: finishing a triplet frees three tray slots at once, while starting a new type just adds clutter.

02

Watch the tray count, not just the board — the combo chains only while the tray holds 3 or fewer tiles after a clear.

03

Clear surface tiles that sit on top of big stacks first: one surface clear can free two or three buried tiles at once.

04

Save reshuffles for the endgame, when the surface is picked clean and no type has three free tiles.

05

With six types, the tray can never fill with all-distinct tiles — but 2+2+2+1 still loses, so never park four types at once.

Questions

Frequently asked questions

Is Tile Trio related to Mahjong or other tile-matching games?

No. Triple-match tile games are a general genre. Tile Trio is an original implementation: the six totem glyphs, the 90-tile two-layer board generator, the tidy-tray combo rule, and all code, art, and audio are original. It contains no third-party IP.

Which tiles can I tap?

A tile is free when nothing sits on top of it in the same cell. Glowing bright tiles are clickable; dimmed tiles are still buried — clear the tiles above them first.

How does the combo work?

Each cleared triplet scores 30 points times your combo (up to x5). Clearing while the tray holds 3 or fewer tiles chains the combo up; clearing with 4+ tiles in the tray breaks it back to x1.

What does reshuffle do?

Twice per game. Reshuffle scatters every tile still on the board into fresh positions (type counts are preserved) while your tray stays as it is. Use it when the surface has no good matches left.

Can I play on my phone?

Yes. The whole game is tap/click based, the canvas scales to fit your screen, and buttons are large enough for touch.
