Play Pawn Rush online
Pawn Rush is a turn-based chess-flavored puzzle dash. Your lone gold pawn starts at the bottom of a 5x8 board; the last rank is promotion — reach it and you win.
Each turn you move one square: straight forward, or diagonally forward to capture. Then every enemy moves toward your side — red-highlighted squares are knight ambush zones, so never end your move on one.
Enemy pawns march down and hunt sideways toward you; from turn 5, purple knights drop in with L-shaped ambushes. Capture blockers diagonally to chain combo points, and promote before the net closes.
How to control Pawn Rush
- Click / tap a highlighted square: move your pawn there (green = safe, amber = capture)
- Q / W / E: move diagonally-left / forward / diagonally-right
- Space: start the run / retry after it ends

Tips for a better run
Capture blockers diagonally to clear your path — and each consecutive capture raises your combo multiplier.
Watch the red squares: knights strike in L-shapes, so never end your move where they can reach.
Knights arrive from turn 5 and ambush in L-shapes. Keep your distance or weave between their landing spots.
Sometimes the forward path is a trap. A diagonal step can dodge an ambush while setting up your next capture.
Frequently asked questions
How do I win a run in Pawn Rush?
March your lone gold pawn from the bottom of the board to the last rank. Every turn you move one square forward or diagonally forward, then all enemy pieces move. Reach rank 8 and you promote — instant win.
How do I get captured?
Red squares are knight ambush zones — knights strike in L-shapes, so never end your move on one. Red pawns march down and drift toward you; if one lands on your square, your pawn is captured. Capture blockers diagonally to clear a path — captures build a combo multiplier.
How does scoring work?
Capturing an enemy diagonally gives 100 points times your current combo streak (100, then 200, 300...). Promoting wins the run with a +500 bonus. Skipping a capture breaks the streak, so plan your path.
