Play Minesweeper online
Minesweeper is a deduction puzzle built around one simple question: which hidden squares are safe? Every revealed number tells you how many mines are touching that square, so each move gives you information for the next one.
This browser version keeps the classic rules while adding first-click safety, three standard difficulty levels, touch-friendly flagging, a timer, and best times stored locally in your browser.
How to control Minesweeper
- Desktop: left click a square to reveal it
- Desktop: right click a square to place or remove a flag

Tips for a better run
Start from open areas. A zero clears nearby safe squares and exposes more useful information at once.
When a numbered square touches exactly as many hidden cells as its remaining mine count, those hidden cells must be mines.
When all mines around a number are already flagged, every other hidden neighbor is safe to reveal.
Flags are notes, not proof. If the board stops making sense, re-check earlier flags before guessing.
Frequently asked questions
Is the first click safe?
Yes. Mines are placed after your first reveal so the opening square and its immediate neighborhood are safe.
What are the difficulty levels?
Beginner uses a 9×9 board with 10 mines, Intermediate uses 16×16 with 40 mines, and Expert uses 30×16 with 99 mines.
