Operational Brief: Dwarf vs. Bosco - Workforce Strategy on Hoxxes IV
Management prefers live Dwarves over full automation due to cost, logistical constraints, and past failures. The unique adaptability and inherent teamwork of Miners remain critical for Deep Rock Galactic's operations.
⚔️ Combat Summary
- Management maintains Miners over full Automation due to prohibitive upgrade costs and the critical need for independent decision-making on Hoxxes IV.
- Dwarven adaptability and teamwork prove more cost-effective and resilient in hazardous Mining Operations than fully automated units like Bosco.
Management’s cold calculus for employing Dwarves over a fully automated workforce like Bosco units is clear: economic pragmatism, not sentiment.
While Bosco units are resilient, they are not independent. They require constant command input from a Miner for critical tasks such as drilling, building, or mining minerals. Crucially, Bosco units cannot handle heavy mineral Logistics due to flight limitations. They are tools, not replacements.
Consider the sheer cost. To upgrade every existing Bosco unit across the Deep Rock Galactic fleet to a level of true autonomy, capable of complex decision-making and heavy material transport, would incur colossal expenses. Management has determined it is simply cheaper to deal with living Miners, despite our demands and ‘incidents.’
Furthermore, the Miners’ Union serves as a formidable barrier, preventing Management from a full-scale replacement, even if they could afford it. They tried that crap once.
Past attempts at full Automation proved disastrous. The BET-Cs, for example, were early DRG automated mining units. They were all compromised and turned against our forces. Management learned a harsh lesson: while organic Miners are vulnerable, they can be recovered or replaced. A corrupted automated unit is a complete loss, often turning into an additional threat. The capacity for a Miner to return from the brink, or for a new recruit to step into the boots of a fallen comrade, holds a grim value for corporate.
Bosco is a vital asset for a Scout, or for any Miner when a teammate is down. But it’s no substitute for a unified Team.
🗣️ Miner’s Chatter
Listen up. The lads in the field confirmed it: Bosco’s good, but it’s not us. Can’t point a laser without a finger. Can’t haul heavy damn rocks without a dwarf to tell it to, and even then, it’s too weak. Management ain’t upgrading every single one of those flying cans; too much Nitra for their coffers. And don’t forget the Union, those bastards actually do something useful sometimes. Plus, they tried full automation with those damn BET-Cs; that was a disaster. Better a live dwarf who might come back than a dead robot that’s now shooting at you.
